We are looking for a Test Lead to own test strategy, quality standards, and delivery of testing activities across one or more squads. You will guide testers, align with product and engineering, and ensure releases meet agreed quality goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain test strategy, test plans, and quality criteria for features and releases.
- Plan, estimate, and prioritize testing work; coordinate with PM, Dev Lead, and stakeholders on scope and timelines.
- Lead and mentor QA engineers: assignments, reviews, skill growth, and day-to-day unblocking.
- Oversee functional, regression, integration, and (where applicable) API/UI/automation and non-functional testing (performance, security basics, accessibility as needed).
- Drive defect lifecycle: triage, severity/priority, trends, and root-cause discussions with development.
- Improve test processes: entry/exit criteria, DoD for QA, risk-based testing, and release sign-off.
- Own or contribute to test automation direction: frameworks, coverage targets, CI integration, and maintainability.
- Ensure traceability: requirements ↔ test cases ↔ defects; reporting on quality metrics and release readiness.
- Facilitate UAT coordination when required; support production issues with reproduction and post-mortem inputs.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in software quality assurance, including 2+ years in a lead or senior role with informal/formal leadership.
- Strong knowledge of test design (equivalence, boundary, risk-based), STLC, and Agile/Scrum delivery.
- Hands-on experience with test management (tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, Xray, or equivalent) and defect tracking (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Experience with API and web/mobile testing; understanding of automation (e.g. Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman/Newman, or similar).
- Excellent communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management under deadline pressure.
- English at professional working level (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure Pipelines) and quality gates in the pipeline.
- Performance or security testing exposure; accessibility testing basics.
- BDD or collaboration on acceptance criteria with Gherkin/Cucumber.
- ISTQB (or equivalent) certification; experience in regulated or enterprise environments is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
- Predictable, transparent release quality with measurable reduction in escaped defects.
- A motivated QA team with clear ownership and improved automation and efficiency over time.
